Home›University Applications›France University Application Timeline 2027
A France university application timeline for 2027 is not one deadline. An Indian student may need to coordinate the institution’s admission process, Études en France (EEF), Campus France file validation and interview, scholarship deadlines, France-Visas, VFS biometrics, financial evidence, accommodation and post-arrival residence formalities. The correct sequence depends on the exact degree level, institution and application route.
This guide is designed to be the working plan from shortlist → application → offer → Campus France → visa → travel → enrolment. It does not invent 2027 dates that French authorities have not yet published.
Current 2027 status — 14 September 2026: the complete 2027 Parcoursup and Mon Master calendars are not yet published on their official calendar pages, and programme/EEF deadlines can differ by route. Use the planning windows below to prepare, then replace them with the exact 2027 date as soon as the responsible platform or institution publishes it.

Find Your France Application Route in 5 Minutes
Before writing an SOP or paying an application fee, answer these questions in order.
- What is the exact degree level? First-year licence/bachelor, later-year undergraduate entry, master’s, specialist school, engineering/business programme or doctorate?
- Which official application system does the programme page name? Études en France, Parcoursup, a university portal, a school portal, another national platform or direct doctoral-school route?
- Is the programme in the Études en France catalogue? If yes, follow the EEF instructions for that programme. If admission is obtained directly, do not assume EEF disappears from the long-stay student-visa process.
- What language proof is required? French, English, both, or an exemption?
- Is there an extra selection stage? Portfolio, audition, entrance test, interview, GMAT/GRE, prerequisite review or supervisor approval?
- What is the earliest real deadline? Scholarship, nomination or selection deadlines can precede the final admission deadline.
Rule: the exact programme page controls your application route. “Study in France” is not one universal form.
France Application Route Map for Indian Students
| Route | Typical starting point | What can still follow | Main risk |
|---|---|---|---|
| Programme using Études en France candidature | EEF applicant account and programme selection | Campus France review/interview, final choice, France-Visas and VFS | Incomplete academic, language or motivation sections delay validation |
| Direct university or school admission | Institution’s own application portal | Mandatory EEF/pre-consular steps for a long-stay student visa, then France-Visas/VFS | Assuming an admission letter alone is enough for the visa |
| First-year undergraduate route | Parcoursup, DAP/EEF or institution route depending on programme and applicant status | Campus France/visa sequence where applicable | Using a postgraduate or direct route for a first-year licence application |
| Selective business or engineering school | School application, competition or specialist admissions portal | EEF pre-consular process and visa after admission | Missing rounds, entrance tests, deposit or scholarship dates |
| Art, design or architecture | Programme/specialist portal with portfolio or selection | EEF/visa as applicable | Portfolio, language or interview date closes before ordinary admission |
| Doctorate/research | Doctoral school, laboratory, supervisor and funding route | Visa/residence route depends on final student/researcher status | Applying before host, supervision and funding are genuinely secured |
Before paying anything, verify the institution and exact qualification using the French university recognition guide.
What Is Confirmed for 2027—and What Is Not Yet Published?
| System | Status on 14 September 2026 | How to plan now |
|---|---|---|
| Parcoursup 2027 | The official calendar page currently shows the 2026 cycle, not the 2027 dates. | Prepare documents and route research now; use only the official 2027 calendar once released. |
| Mon Master 2027 | The official calendar currently shows the 2026 procedure. | Do not copy 2026 dates into a 2027 application. Follow the exact route named by your programme and EEF instructions. |
| Études en France | The procedure is active for India, but deadlines can be route/programme-specific. | Create the file early and monitor Campus France India plus the programme page. |
| University/school portals | Institution-specific dates may already begin appearing for 2027. | Save each deadline with its source URL and last-checked date. |
| Scholarships | Calls release on separate calendars. | Track scholarship dates independently from admission. |

January or Spring 2027 Intake: Compressed Plan
By September 2026, a January 2027 applicant has little margin. France’s main intake is usually autumn, and spring availability is programme-specific.
| Period | Minimum action | Decision rule |
|---|---|---|
| September 2026 | Confirm the exact programme really offers January/spring entry; verify recognition, language, cost and application route. | Do not rely on a school-wide statement that “January intake is available.” Verify the exact course. |
| September–October 2026 | Submit admission, tests, portfolio and any scholarship application; prepare the EEF/pre-consular file. | Stop if critical documents, funding or academic eligibility cannot be completed credibly. |
| October–November 2026 | Accept the final offer only after cost/refund checks; complete Campus France and financial evidence. | Leave enough time for Campus France review, interview and visa preparation. |
| November–December 2026 | France-Visas, VFS, biometrics, housing and travel planning. | If visa timing becomes unsafe, ask about deferral instead of forcing the intake. |
| January 2027 | Travel after approval, enrol and complete post-arrival formalities. | Confirm the institution will still accept your arrival date. |
Undergraduate Applications: Licence, Bachelor, Parcoursup and DAP
First-year undergraduate applications require extra care because the route can depend on the type of qualification, institution and applicant situation. France-Visas explicitly warns that some first-year applicants must use Parcoursup and follow its calendar.
Before applying, identify which of these describes you
- First year of a public-university licence.
- A bachelor offered by a university or specialised school.
- Engineering/business undergraduate programme.
- Art/design/architecture programme with portfolio or selection.
- Transfer or later-year entry rather than first-year admission.
Do not confuse these systems
| System | What it is | Student action |
|---|---|---|
| Parcoursup | National admissions platform used for many first-year higher-education programmes. | Use it only when your applicant/programme route requires it and follow the live 2027 calendar when published. |
| DAP | Preliminary admission procedure relevant to certain first-year university applications. | Check Campus France/EEF guidance for your exact situation. |
| Études en France | France’s EEF platform and process for applicants resident in participating countries including India. | Follow the route displayed for your programme and applicant profile. |
| Direct school application | Institution manages academic admission itself. | After admission, still complete the required EEF/pre-consular process for a long-stay student visa. |
Indian Class 12 applicants should start before final board results. Programmes may assess available school records/predicted results and later require final marks; the exact institution rule controls.
Master’s Applications: EEF, University Portals and National Platforms
A French master’s application can be routed through EEF, a university portal, a graduate school, a business/engineering-school system or another platform. Do not assume every French master’s uses the same national portal.
| Programme type | Checks before submission |
|---|---|
| Public university master | M1/M2 entry, national degree status, prerequisites, exact platform, language, tuition/exemption and EEF instructions. |
| Engineering school | CTI-authorised engineering award where relevant, specialisation, campus, test/interview and scholarship deadline. |
| Business school | Exact award status, grade de master where claimed, CEFDG/RNCP context where relevant, admission rounds, tuition and deposit/refund rules. |
| Erasmus Mundus | Consortium application calendar, mobility countries, degree structure and separate scholarship application. |
| Research-oriented master | Prerequisite courses, research fit, methods background, possible supervisor/lab alignment and progression expectations. |
As of 14 September 2026, the official Mon Master calendar page still displays the 2026 procedure. Do not copy those dates into a 2027 application. Use the 2027 calendar once published and follow any EEF instructions applicable to applicants resident in India.
Business, Engineering, Art and Other Selective Schools
Selective programmes often create extra deadlines that do not appear in a standard university timeline.
- Application round or rolling-admission date.
- Entrance examination or aptitude test.
- GMAT/GRE or language score.
- Portfolio or audition.
- Interview.
- Scholarship round.
- Seat-confirmation deposit.
- Final diploma/transcript submission.
Record every step separately. “Application deadline” does not necessarily include the selection test or scholarship deadline.
Doctorate and Research Routes
Doctoral applications are fundamentally different from taught-degree applications. Campus France India’s current guidance says doctorate applicants are not handled like ordinary EEF candidature applicants; the student should work through the doctoral school/research route and then follow the visa/residence path appropriate to the final status.
| Stage | What to secure |
|---|---|
| Research fit | Topic, laboratory and supervisor alignment. |
| Admission | Doctoral-school approval and any institutional registration conditions. |
| Funding | Written funding amount, duration, employment/student status and conditions. |
| Hosting status | Whether you will use a student route or researcher/talent route and what hosting agreement is required. |
| Visa | Use the visa category matching the actual legal/research status—not a generic student assumption. |
Études en France for Indian Students: Complete Sequence
India is an Études en France country. Campus France India describes EEF as the paperless process used to manage admission communication and the pre-consular stage.
A. If you are applying through EEF candidature
- Create the Études en France account.
- Save the Campus France registration number.
- Complete personal information and full academic history.
- Add language skills, CV and programme-specific motivation.
- Upload passport, photo, marksheets, certificates and required supporting records.
- Select eligible programmes from the online catalogue where the route permits.
- Submit the file for Campus France review.
- Correct deficiencies requested by the Campus France advisor.
- Pay the EEF fee only through the official payment process after validation/instruction.
- Attend the Campus France academic interview when required.
- Monitor admission responses and select the final institution.
- Move to the visa/pre-consular sequence once acceptance is final.
B. If you already have direct admission
Direct admission does not normally remove the EEF requirement for an Indian applicant seeking a long-stay student visa. Campus France India states that completing EEF is the first step for the long-stay student-visa process. Follow the accepted/pre-consular path shown in your EEF account and submit the admission evidence requested there.
Current EEF fee: Campus France India announced that the Études en France fee increased to ₹20,000 from 1 August 2026. Payment should be made only after file validation and through the official payment link sent through the authorised process.
Campus France Academic Interview: What to Prepare
The interview is not a script-reading exercise. Be ready to explain a coherent academic and financial plan.
- Why this field and degree level?
- Why France rather than another country?
- Why this institution and exact programme?
- How does the curriculum connect to your prior study/work?
- What language will you study in and what evidence supports readiness?
- How will tuition and living costs be funded?
- What is your career plan after graduation?
- Have you verified the qualification and institution?
Keep the original/required academic documents available according to the appointment instructions. The answers should match the submitted file.

Scholarship Timeline: Track Funding Before Admission Closes
Scholarships are a separate clock. Use the France scholarships guide for named awards and current calls.
| Funding route | Timeline risk | Action |
|---|---|---|
| Eiffel | The institution nominates the candidate; its internal deadline can be earlier than the central campaign. | Ask the university about nomination before waiting for ordinary admission. |
| Charpak | Embassy scholarship calendar is separate from institution admission. | Prepare academic and motivation evidence early and follow the current call. |
| Erasmus Mundus | Many consortium deadlines are relatively early. | Track the consortium, programme and scholarship application together. |
| University award | Can be automatic, nomination-based or separate. | Confirm whether the scholarship is guaranteed, competitive or only an eligibility opportunity. |

France Student Visa Timeline for Indian Applicants
For study longer than three months, France-Visas describes the usual route as a long-stay visa with residence formalities after arrival. India is an EEF country.
Recommended sequence
- Receive unconditional/visa-usable admission.
- Complete and validate the required Études en France file.
- Pay the Campus France/EEF fee through the official route unless exempt.
- Complete the Campus France academic interview or required pre-consular step.
- Follow the authorisation/instruction to proceed to the visa stage.
- Create the France-Visas application and use the visa wizard for the current document checklist.
- Upload/digitise documents as requested.
- Book the VFS appointment through the authorised visa process.
- Attend in person for submission and biometrics.
- Track the application and avoid risky non-refundable travel commitments.
- After arrival, validate the VLS-TS online within three months when applicable.
Timing: Campus France India currently advises long-stay applicants to start as soon as unconditional acceptance is received and at least three months before the intake. France-Visas India separately states that a long-stay visa application should be submitted at least one month before scheduled departure and cannot be submitted more than six months before departure. Treat three months as the safer planning buffer, not as permission to wait until the one-month minimum.
2027 Visa Funding: Important Change from 1 August 2026
France-Visas and Campus France India state that student long-stay visa applications submitted from 1 August 2026 must show minimum financial resources of €877.50 per month.
| Funding source | Typical evidence Campus France India currently describes |
|---|---|
| Self-funded | Recent personal bank statements showing the required first-year finances. |
| Parent/family sponsor | Sponsorship letter plus sponsor bank statements, income-tax return, salary evidence and identity proof as applicable. |
| Scholarship | Official letter showing amount and duration. |
| Company/government sponsor | Official sponsorship/funding documentation. |
| Guarantor in France | Financial-responsibility statement and evidence of the guarantor’s identity/resources as requested. |
This minimum is a visa-evidence threshold, not a realistic full cost-of-living budget for every French city. Build the actual budget separately.
Current Visa and EEF Cost Anchors
- EEF fee in India: ₹20,000 from 1 August 2026 according to Campus France India’s current notice.
- Student visa fee for EEF countries: France-Visas currently lists €50 as an indicative visa fee, with special cases possible.
- VFS fee: separate from the visa fee; optional services can cost extra.
- CVEC: Campus France lists €105 for the 2026/27 academic year. The 2027/28 amount should be rechecked when published.
Do not budget the 2026/27 CVEC amount as a guaranteed 2027/28 figure.
Housing Timeline
Housing should begin before the visa result if your institution/city has a legitimate allocation window, but do not transfer large sums to an unverified landlord.
| Stage | Housing action |
|---|---|
| Shortlisting | Estimate realistic rent and commute for each campus. |
| After serious offer | Check CROUS/institution housing, private residences and verified rental routes. |
| Before visa/travel | Secure accommodation or a credible temporary plan and keep proof needed for the visa file. |
| Before payment | Verify address, contract, deposit terms and who receives the money. |
| Arrival | Complete inventory, insurance and any residence/CAF-related paperwork where eligible. |
After Arrival in France: Your Application Is Not Finished
- Complete final university/school enrolment.
- Pay or obtain exemption from CVEC where applicable and retain the certificate.
- Validate the VLS-TS online within three months where your visa requires it.
- Complete health-insurance/student-registration formalities.
- Set up bank, SIM and local transport.
- Keep the passport, visa, accommodation, enrolment and payment documents accessible.
- Record future residence-renewal and internship/work-authorisation deadlines.
Indian Students: How France–India Academic Recognition Fits the Decision
Campus France India states that France and India have a mutual-recognition agreement covering specified academic qualifications, including recognised senior-school qualifications, bachelor/licence, master-level qualifications and doctorates under the agreement’s conditions.
Important boundary: professional qualifications such as law and medicine, or qualifications conferring a right to practise a regulated profession, are excluded from that general mutual-recognition agreement. If your goal is professional practice, check the relevant regulator separately in France and India.
Recognition should therefore be checked before accepting an offer, especially for professional courses, private schools, specialist awards and programmes whose marketing title differs from the formal qualification.
Common France Application Timeline Failures
| Failure | Why it causes problems | Better action |
|---|---|---|
| Following an old 2026/2025 calendar | National and institutional dates change. | Use current 2027 official sources once published. |
| Assuming every programme uses EEF candidature | Some programmes use direct or specialist admission routes. | Read the exact programme application instructions. |
| Assuming direct admission removes Campus France | Long-stay Indian applicants still need the required EEF/pre-consular process. | Complete the accepted/pre-consular path before France-Visas. |
| Using only the final admission deadline | Scholarship, portfolio, test or nomination dates can close earlier. | Track every clock separately. |
| Starting the visa in the final month | EEF correction, interview, VFS and documentation need time. | Start at least three months before intake where possible. |
| Using the old €615/month funding figure | The threshold changed for applications from 1 August 2026. | Use the current €877.50/month minimum and recheck before applying. |
| Paying through an agent’s unofficial link | Creates fraud/refund risk. | Use official university, Campus France and France-Visas/VFS routes. |
| Assuming a scholarship is guaranteed | Eligibility or nomination is not an award. | Budget only confirmed funding. |
| Ignoring recognition | A school/programme may not deliver the qualification you expect. | Verify the exact award before deposit. |
| Waiting for visa approval before researching housing | Legitimate housing windows may close earlier. | Research early but verify every payment. |
Is It Too Late to Apply?
Do not answer this from the month alone. Use a go/no-go test.
| Question | If the answer is no |
|---|---|
| Is the exact programme still officially open? | Do not use an agent promise to bypass a closed intake. |
| Can required language/test results arrive in time? | Choose a later intake/programme. |
| Can academic documents be completed without misrepresentation? | Do not submit an incomplete or inaccurate file. |
| Can the EEF/pre-consular process be completed credibly? | Ask about deferral. |
| Can you prove the current funding requirement? | Do not depend on uncertain future money. |
| Is there enough time for visa and housing? | Protect the next intake rather than forcing travel. |

Frequently Asked Questions
When should Indian students start applying to France for September 2027?
Start serious preparation in September–October 2026: verify programmes, identify the correct application route, prepare tests and documents, and track early scholarships. Submit according to each programme’s official 2027 window.
Is the 2027 Parcoursup calendar available yet?
As of 14 September 2026, the official Parcoursup calendar page still displays the 2026 cycle. Do not reuse those dates as 2027 deadlines; follow the official 2027 calendar once published.
Is the 2027 Mon Master calendar available yet?
As of 14 September 2026, the official Mon Master calendar page shows the 2026 procedure. Check the live 2027 calendar when released and follow the route required for applicants resident in India.
Do Indian students have to use Études en France?
India is an EEF country. The exact academic-application route varies, but Campus France India states that completing EEF is mandatory as the first step for a long-stay student visa.
If I apply directly to a French university, can I skip Campus France?
Not for the ordinary long-stay student-visa process simply because admission was direct. After receiving admission, complete the required EEF/pre-consular process and follow Campus France India’s instructions before the visa stage.
How much is the Études en France fee in India?
Campus France India announced an EEF fee of ₹20,000 effective from 1 August 2026. Use only the official payment process and recheck the current fee before paying.
How much money must I show for a France student visa?
For applications submitted from 1 August 2026, the current minimum financial-resources threshold is €877.50 per month. This is a visa minimum, not necessarily your real monthly budget.
How early should I start the France student-visa process?
Campus France India advises beginning as soon as unconditional acceptance is received and at least three months before the intake. France-Visas India says a long-stay visa application should be submitted at least one month before departure and no more than six months before departure.
How much is the France student-visa fee for Indian applicants?
France-Visas currently lists an indicative €50 student-visa fee for applicants from EEF countries. VFS service charges are separate and special cases may differ.
When do I validate my French student visa after arrival?
Campus France India instructs relevant long-stay student-visa holders to complete the online VLS-TS/OFII validation process within three months of arriving in France.
Are French degrees recognised in India?
France and India have a mutual-recognition agreement covering specified academic qualifications under its conditions. Professional degrees and qualifications conferring a right to practise, such as law and medicine, are excluded from that general agreement and require regulator-specific checks.
Is January 2027 too late to apply now?
Not automatically, but by September 2026 the timeline is compressed. Proceed only if the exact programme remains open and you can complete admission, EEF, funding, visa and housing without shortcuts; otherwise ask about deferral or a later intake.
