The cost of studying in Ireland for Indian students is not only tuition. A realistic 2027 budget must include programme fees, immigration financial evidence, insurance, visa and registration charges, housing deposits, living costs, travel, exchange-rate risk and a contingency for delayed employment.

Use this page after verifying the exact programme through the Irish recognition and immigration-eligibility checklist and reading the Ireland pillar guide.

Accuracy rule: Education in Ireland’s latest central tuition ranges available during this update are for 2025/26. They are reference ranges, not 2027 quotations. The institution’s 2027 fee schedule and your offer control.

Immigration Financial Requirement

The current immigration requirement for a course resulting in residence longer than eight months is access to €10,000 for living expenses, separate from tuition. For six-to-eight-month residence, the current amount is €833 per month, up to €6,665 for eight months.

Do not confuse the visa minimum with the real budget. Dublin housing alone can make the actual annual living cost significantly higher.

Tuition Payment Before Visa

Current long-stay visa rules state:

  • If course fees are below €6,000, the full fee must be paid before applying.
  • If course fees exceed €6,000, at least €6,000 must be paid before applying.
  • The institution may require a larger deposit or full payment.
  • Payment should be through approved electronic transfer or an approved student-fee service, not cash.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a master’s in Ireland cost?

The latest official 2025/26 ranges run roughly from €12,000 to €40,000 depending on field and institution. Use the exact 2027 programme fee.

How much money must I show for an Ireland student visa?

The current living-fund requirement for a course over eight months is €10,000, separate from tuition.

Is €10,000 enough to live in Dublin?

It is an immigration minimum, not a guarantee. A realistic Dublin budget can be materially higher because of housing.

How much tuition must be paid before visa?

For fees below €6,000, pay in full. For fees above €6,000, at least €6,000 must be paid under current rules.

Can part-time work cover living costs?

It should not be the primary plan. Work is limited during term and is not guaranteed.

Are Ireland scholarships usually full funding?

No. Some are partial. The GOI-IES is a notable one-year full-fee-waiver plus stipend route for eligible level 9 or 10 study.
