A resume summary for freshers is a three- or four-line introduction at the top of the resume that shows the skills and evidence you already have, instead of only saying what job you want.
Quick answer: Start with your degree and the role you are aiming for, add two or three skills you have actually used, mention your strongest proof (a project, internship, certification or campus role) and close with what you can do for the employer. Keep it to 40–70 words. If you have no internship, use projects, coursework results, competitions or volunteering as proof.
Want a draft from your own details?
The free career objective generator writes two-line and detailed openings from your role, degree and skills. Use its detailed version as the base for your summary, then add your proof point.
A resume summary (also called a profile summary or professional summary) sits under your name and contact details. For experienced people it highlights years of work and results. For a fresher it does the same job with different evidence: your degree, the skills you have practised and the projects or internships that prove them.
Think of it as the answer to the recruiter’s first question: “Why should I read the rest of this resume for this role?”

Resume summary vs Naukri profile summary vs LinkedIn About
The facts should match everywhere, but the length and tone change:
Resume: 40–70 words, targeted to one job.
Naukri profile summary: a bit longer and keyword-rich, because recruiters search Naukri by skills. See these Naukri profile summary examples.
“Dynamic and hardworking fresher with excellent communication skills, looking for an opportunity to grow in a reputed organisation.”
No degree, no skills, no proof, no role.
Better
“B.Com graduate trained in Tally Prime and GST returns through three months at a CA firm, handling vouchers for 12 clients. Seeking an accounts executive role.”
Every phrase can be checked in an interview.
Listing adjectives instead of evidence. “Hardworking” and “passionate” add nothing a recruiter can verify.
Writing about what you want, not what you offer. “To grow my career” is about you; “to keep filings on time” is about the employer.
Inventing numbers. Only use figures you can explain, such as users, teams, marks or deadlines.
One summary for every job. Reorder skills and change the target role for each application.
Repeating the education section. The summary should interpret your background for the role, not copy it.
Fresher resume summary checklist
Starts with your degree or stage.
Names one target role.
Includes 2–3 skills from the job description.
Has one concrete proof point.
40–70 words long.
No unverifiable adjectives.
Numbers are true and explainable.
Matches your Naukri and LinkedIn facts.

Start with your degree and target role, add two or three skills you have used, mention your strongest proof such as a project or internship, and end with the value you bring. Keep it between 40 and 70 words.
What is a good profile summary for a fresher?
A good profile summary names the degree, the target role, two or three relevant skills and one piece of evidence. For example: B.Com graduate trained in Tally and GST at a CA firm, handling vouchers for 12 clients, seeking an accounts executive role.
What should I write in a resume summary with no experience?
Use evidence other than jobs: academic projects, certifications, competitions, college roles or volunteering. Describe what you did and one result, then name the role you want.
Should a fresher use a summary or an objective?
Use a summary if you have an internship, strong projects or certifications to show. Use an objective if your evidence is limited or you are changing direction. Do not use both.
How long should a resume summary be for freshers?
Three to four lines, roughly 40 to 70 words. A one- or two-line version works when space is tight.
Can I copy a resume summary from the internet?
Use examples only to understand the structure. Recruiters see popular lines often, and a copied summary may not match your real skills when they ask about it.
